News and Announcements

Dear Cabrillo families,

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!  I hope that everyone had a restful and rejuvenating summer.  I am so excited to begin my first year at Cabrillo and to meet all the wonderful new and returning Cubs.  I would like to extend a special welcome to the TK and Kindergarten families who will be joining the Cabrillo community for the first time this year!  Our teachers and staff have been working hard to get our campus clean and sparkling for the first day.  We are ready and enthusiastic to open our gates and usher in a great new school year!

There will be many exciting things happening throughout this year. Our teachers will continue working to sustain our rigorous math curriculum using Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI).  A new committee of teachers called the Guiding Coalition will be working hard to guide our staff in creating a new vision, determining essential standards, creating common assessments, and reflecting on student progress.  Additionally, thanks to the continued support of the Cotsen foundation, a group of our teachers will be working to transform their English instruction using the Writer’s Workshop model to increase student engagement and ownership of their writing.  Moreover, we are thrilled to have an on-site music teacher at Cabrillo this year, so that our Cubs will be exposed to some fun and exciting music curriculum. Lastly, there are exciting PTA events and family nights scheduled throughout the year, as well.

I look forward to a fun and enriching school year!
